The 2005 Subaru Liberty was released in late 2004. This was the first revision to the platform released the previous year.
Subaru received the award of "Australia's Best Luxury Car" for the 2005 Subaru Liberty 3.0R. This award came from Australia's motoring organisations such as NRMA.
For 2005, the Liberty GT became available with a manual transmission. The GT was now the most expensive in the range at $52,990 for the manual and $54,990 for the auto. That's a price rise of $4000 on the auto model. So what did you get for the extra dollars? Leather Trim, Curtain Airbags front and rear, Electric drivers seat, Map reading lights, Sunroof, Vanity mirror, Speed Dependant Wipers. The 2005 model gains an extra 25 kilograms due to the extra equipment.
The base model came with a few additions over the previous model such as Map/Reading lamps, Vanity mirror on the drivers side and Speed Dependant Wipers. It was priced the same as the previous years model.
The "Safety Pack" model drops in price by $500 from the 04 model, yet gains extra features like those which the base model gains.
Also to note, as with the 2004 model the ANCAP crash testing the Liberty scored 5 stars which is excellent. Its overall score was 32.57 out of 37.
